Background
We have worked with the internationally renowned Clatterbridge Cancer Centre NHS Foundation Trust on ad hoc projects in recent years and they wanted to increase awareness and understanding of its pioneering work among both patients and professionals.
Target Audience
Team members of The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre.
Challenge
The leadership team and specialist staff need to be available for interview by the media, representing The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre and communicating key messages.
Solution
A series of six media training sessions was delivered, each including six individuals in key positions at Clatterbridge – the executive team, senior consultants and other specialists.
Interviews were prepared based on likely scenarios and each participant was interviewed twice as though live on TV, including once as though ‘down the line’ looking into a camera lens rather than at an interviewer.
Training was provided in how to prepare for a media interview; and feedback given on each interview. Handouts summarising top tips were also provided.
Results
Each session resulted in unanimously positive feedback, with all participants saying they enjoyed the training and they felt more confident about the prospect of undertaking a media interview.
