You know your business is the best at printing on parchment – you’ve been doing it for hundreds of years (perhaps not you alone but your forefathers before you etc.) and you have a reputable name in your local community. However, business is slowing and you want new customers. Mr Newcustomer comes to his laptop, types in ‘parchment printing company North of England’ and at the top of his search is the company that is savvy about their marketing, who may or may not be the best in the area at what they do. This may be why your own flow of new customers is slowing.
These days, whether we like it or not, if someone has not heard of our business then they are not very likely to trust it. New customers aren’t going to flick through Yellow Pages, and give us a call to print their parchment. So what do you do? If your business does not have the time or tools to explore the mystery of marketing, you need a navigator.
You tell them your destination – where you would like to go, how you would like to get there and who you would like to meet along the way. An effective and well thought-out road map should take you the shortest and most cost effective route to your target market. It can seem daunting putting your reputation in the hands of another but if they take as much pride in their work as you do in yours then really it should all make perfect sense.
Showcasing your business, enhancing your company profile and getting your name into the global market place, which is the internet, is imperative in today’s digital world.
